The Llamas

Taj and his cousins did an impromptu performance this morning on our back porch with their newly formed band "the Llamas."  Morgan the lead singer adapts the melody from "Called to Serve" with some Llama lyrics of her own :)

Carlsbad 2010

Encinitas, CA coaster train station
This is our campsite at South Carlsbad State Beach.  We shared the campsite with another family (that is their camper on the right).
Tajjy enjoying an outdoor shower
Taj spotted this "sleeping" fish on the beach
He decided he should help the fish back to the water
Good thing he had his trusty shovel to scoop it up
Taj to the rescue.  Some sea creature appreciated the snack
I stepped on a stingray at the beach.  It just nicked me luckily so the barb didn't break off in my foot.  Felt like a bee sting for a few hours and then it was fine.
Taj was super excited to visit a real train station.
This train runs from San Diego to Oceanside.
Taj even got a picture with the conductor
We visited our friends the Mangus family on our way home from the beach.
Our other friend Troy Slade came to surf with me one morning.  We are really good friends.
Taj and Ari liked playing with my friend John Carr's kids, Dylan and Ryan.
Taj liked his bike helmet so much he wore it most of the time we were at camp.  Even at breakfast.
We visited a little boardwalk with some carnival rides.  Taj loved ringing the bell.
Taj learned what hot charcoal is when he picked up one.  Luckily he just burned one finger a little and got a little blister.  This is a reenactment.
I really liked this traffic sign (under the green arrow)
Taj napping in the tent
Ari slept like a champ in her tent.  Perfect little girl.
It was really fun having the hammock to lounge in.
Flying a kite wearing my hoodie.  I think he looks like a Jedi.
Fun little spot in La Jolla
Taj loved seeing the seals and crashing waves at La Jolla
Cathy and Taj making seal noises.
Cathy and Taj almost got soaked.
Lots of seals
Balboa Park, San Diego
This place had a bunch of big koi fish
Taj kept calling all the buildings "castles" because of the fancy architecture
Lots of cool flowers at the Botanical Garden at Balboa Park.

I think this one was called a pitcher plant
There were a bunch of these huge trees around the park.  They kinda blow my mind how cool they are.

Grasstacular!

We officially have grass in our backyard now.  Thanks Josh!

Chalk Art

Cathy chalked this onto our back porch last week before we went on our Carlsbad, CA camp trip.  I think she is a really good drawer.
Ari loved the colors and decided to help mom out.
This chalk doesn't taste half bad :)
This is just cute.
